THE GLITTER BAND OFFICIAL
FAN CLUB,
PO BOX 315,
London E.18 2RL
February to April 1976
HELLO AGAIN!
As usual the time has flown by for me since I last wrote to you and now that Christmas is over, I can concentrate on this letter to you. First of all, the Band have asked me to thank all those who sent in cards and presents - they thought this was really great of you and also for Gerry and Harvey for their birthdays. Many thanks too for all the people who remembered me
The lads all hope that
you had a good Christmas - they spent theirs with their respective families
this year - a typical Christmas in fact.
L.P. AND SINGLE NEWS
You will be pleased to know that a silver disc has been awarded for the L.P. "HEY!" and also for "ROCK 'N' ROLL DUDES". We now wish "LISTEN TO THE BAND" equal success, I think it is my favourite to date but perhaps that is because I always like the latest best until the next one comes along......
We were all very sorry
that "ALONE AGAIN" did not do so well but have our fingers crossed for
"PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND PEOPLE LIKE ME" which is due out as a single some
time around February 6th. I think this one is a winner and I am sure
you will too.
COMPETITION RESULTS
We were amazed at the work that had been going on up and down the country and overseas for this competition. It is always very difficult choosing winners when the standard is so high and when so much thought has obviously gone into it, but after much head-scratching, the following were finally selected.
Joint winners
Julie Macking, Nottingham
Kevin Whyman, Gravesend
3rd Ruth Williams, Cardiff
Runners up
Janice Stack, Christopher Rowlands,
Mandy Beckett, Coleen Newman
The four runners up had a 'phone call from a member of the Band
or else a Christmas Card.
Highly commended
Susan Jermy and Lynne Morley (joint effort)
Karen Martin, Lyn Saxby, Richard Cole, Barry Whitlow,
Caroline Deans, Anne-Marie Dodson, Peter Gilbey.
Well done!
On Tuesday 13th January,
Julie, Kevin and Ruth came up to London to meet the Band and we all had
a really great afternoon. It was lovely meeting those Fan Club members
for me as I often think how well I know you all, so it was nice to be able
to meet three. My special thanks to the parents for acting as "escorts".
LETTER FROM PETE
Well here is the last letter from Pete. (I have had loads of requests for the previous letters especially from new members and so some time in the near future I will be printing the five letters and they will be on sale for 10p)
"Hi. Fan Club Members. Lyn has warned me some time ago that she was going to ask me to write a letter and I have been thinking what I could put down. However, she has given me a list of questions to help me along - so here goes. My full name is Peter William Phipps.
I am right handed and I smoke Benson & Hedges. I have no pets at the moment. I like short brown hair usually on girls but on the whole do not mind. Mr favourite T.V. programme is "Batman" and I support Leeds United. My favourite sport is snooker but I have recently become interested in Squash when I can find the time. I live at home with my parents and prefer the town because it is what I am used to. My fave after shave seems to be popular with the rest of the band "Eau Savage". I think my most embarrassing moment was missing my cue on Top of the Pops once. I would have liked to have been a doctor if I was not doing what I do now. I like orange juice as a non-alcoholic drink. Religion - Church of England. I have been with the Band since the beginning. Well now that is over I would like to say how much I appreciate your interest in us - and thanks for the cards and things for Christmas too. I thought the last competition was a knock-out and there were some fabulous entries. We all enjoyed meeting the winners. All the best from me to you - Pete Phipps".
Well, I have been positively
bombarded with letter about John Springate getting married 'cos it was
printed in one of the mags, so you tell me. Well, it is true (groan,
groan) and John is getting married in the not too distant future to a girl
called Lyn whom he has known for a very long time. I have no date
or anything because it will have to be fitted into their schedule as they
are going on tour quite soon. About the tour:-
