Dear Member,

The first thing I must mention is about the Tour Dates from September 26th to 11th October which were sent out to those of you who requested this info and sent in s.a.e.'s.  As you know, most of the dates were at Universities and were private bookings which were limited, usually, to Student Union members only.  A lot of you wrote in to say how disappointed you were about this and I was sorry on your behalf that you could not get in to see the Band.
The Band have to do a few private bookings from time to time (though not many in comparison with the public performances).  Anyway, no doubt those members of the Fan Club who are also students were happy, and I hope the others will be able to see them soon.

TOUR DATES

I have been waiting for this info (which is why your newsletter is a bit overdue) but although some dates have been arranged, there has been no definite confirmation on the rest as yet and so I will have to ask those of you who want the dates to send in the usual s.a.e.  I have some s.a.e.'s form some of you who have already sent in for this info so those members need not send another (think of the postage!).  Sorry about this as I did hope to get some dates to you to include with this newsletter but tours are very difficult to arrange, what with dates being altered or scrapped and so on.  As you know, even when dates are confirmed, they sometimes get altered.  Anyway, as soon as I am able, I will get them sent out.

L.P & SINGLE NEWS

The next L.P. is due to be released around November 28th and will be called "LISTEN TO THE BAND".  I have not heard it myself yet but Mike tells me it is great, so watch out for it.....

The single "ALONE AGAIN" will be released around 14th November which will please everybody.  Apparently the last single, "Love In The Sun" was very popular with the Fans even though it was a little different from the usual style of the Glitter Band.

COMPETITION

We promised you a grand Competition for Christmas.  Last year the winners each had a phone call from a member of the Band but this year they thought it would be great for the first two winners to meet them in person, and five runners up to receive a phone call on Christmas Day, like last year.  The date etc. for the winners to meet the Band will be arranged later.

What a great idea!  What you have to di si design a Christmas Card and sent it to me at the usual Fan Club address.  You do not have to be a great artist as neatness, effort and age will be taken into consideration.

Mark, the envelope you send the card in "CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION" to reach me no later than November 31st  The completed card should not be bigger than 5 ins x 7 ins (approx 12 1/2m x 17 1/2m) and please remember to put your name, age and address on the back of the card  You have about 2 weeks so now get crackin.

Do not write in for details of winners.  If you are lucky you will be informed and the results will appear in the Feb/April newsletter.

LETTER FROM GERRY

I did not purposefully keep Gerry until near the end, I still have to have a chat with Pete.

"Hi.  I have just been reading John's letter to see what brilliant things he had to say and I was pleased to see that he is not so good at writing letters either, cos that is something I never seem to get around to myself.  Lyn tells me she is always getting asked questions about us and it is a good idea to include letters from us in your newsletter.  It gives me a chance to say that I think it is great the interest that you show in us.  It fair knocks me out or something.  I also thought the pen friend list was a great idea as it means you can get in touch with other Glitter fanatics.  Hope you have made some new friends.  Now for the questions.  I smoke Benson & Hedges or any others when I can.  My full name is Gerald Edward.  I usually like girls with long hair but admit that there are some fantastic girls with short hair so it is the person that counts really.  My fave T.V. programmes are old films and Master Mind.  I suppose I support Crystal Palace and my fave sport is golf.  I live at home with me mum and dad.  I like the countryside and the town for different reasons.  Fave after-shave is Eau Savage.  Height of platforms 3 inches.  I have had a few embarrassing moments, well they seemed so at the time, but when I look back, not too bad.  I have always wanted to do what I am doing now and could not really imagine being anything else for the time being.  I have been with the Band since it was Boston International.  I like to drink cold milk and Scotch and Coke.  I do not have a car at the moment as I lost my driving licence for speeding, three times, so I do not have a current licence at the moment.  That seems to be all for now so all I have to do is wish you inspiration and luck for the competition and I look forward to meeting the winners.  Have a great Christmas. Tara.  Gerry Shephard."

It was great to receive all your postcards when you were on holiday and we enjoyed getting them.  They were originally stuck on the wall but in the end proved so many that they had to be taken down or else we couldn't see out of the window.  The lads enjoyed their holidays but are glad to be back at work and look forward to meeting the Fans at concerts as that is what they enjoy doing most.
