February/April 1975
Hello, Again!
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas. The Band all enjoyed theirs with their different families. I was absolutely "snowed under" with presents and cards for them which I have passed on for you all. All the boys were knocked out by the amount of things they received and it took them ages to look through all the cards. They tell me to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to the best Fans of all! I must say thankyou, too, for my cards and gifts - that really surprised and delighted me no end.
Gerry, Harvey and John had birthdays recently and they have said another "thankyou" to those Fans who remembered them yet again.
CHRISTMAS DRAW
Well, I expect you were wanting to know who the lucky ones were for the Christmas Draw. They were:-
Jenny Lewin No. 1537
Carol Foster No. 1460
Judith Allen No. 1321
Beverley Nevitt No. 1817
Tony Magee No. 0102
Julie Thomas No. 1302
and they all received a phone call for Christmas from a member of the Glitter Band.
One of the boys had great difficulty in getting in phone number that had been drawn for him and there were frantic phone calls to Mike their manager on Christmas Day. There was one very disappointed Fan waiting for her phone call and one very upset member of the Band unable to get in touch with her. It was all sorted out in the end, thank good-ness! Just goes to show that the best laid plans "gang aft aglay" (I think that is right Scottish members...)
Might
I mention to our growing number of Overseas Members, that had your name
been drawn out you would probably have received a Christmas card instead
of a phone call, but no one overseas was lucky this time.
There
are plans afoot for a great competition, possibly in the summer.
I will discuss with
the Band what form this will take and hope to give details in the next
newsletter No. 4, May/July issue. The first prize will be a fabulous,
glittering suit belonging to one of the Band - but as I say, more definite
news later.
BAND NEWS
There are also plans for the next L.P. being worked on but there are no more details in time for this newsletter. I will probably have the details well in advance of the next newsletter and so if you send me a s.a.e. I will send you news of release date, etc., when I have it myself.
You must now all have heard or even bought the single released on January 10th, "Goodbye My Love" is on the A side, sung by John Springate and written by Gerry. The B side is "Got to Be Ready For Love" again sung by John. But this time written by Pete. Both are great but I think the A side sounds like a winner!
Watch out for the film I mentioned last time - "Never Too Young to Rock". It is due for release soon (no definite date as yet) but there will be lots of publicity about so keep a look out.

The Band are not now going to Australia etc. in February but here is a run-down of the next tours:-

Then they will probably be off on the Australia tour in the second week of June so they will be with us for a bit longer yet!
I have at last had a talk with John about his age and it seems that there was definitely a misprint all round, so he was born in 1949 as I said in the last newsletter. So whatever you have read, or read elsewhere from now on you know the truth.
"Hi to you all!
Here's
hoping you had a really great Christmas and judging by
what
Lyn says, quite a lot of you got the L.P. "Hey!" for Christmas.
I
spent the holiday at my father's house which is a small farm
way
out in the country, not far from Harrogate.
It
was really windy and all the power cables were blown down so
the
farm was quite isolated with no electricity and so on. It felt
peculiar
to be so cut off from everywhere but it was exciting in a way.
I
did not mind as I like the country anyway. In answer to a few
questions
asked by Lyn from you, well I like animals and prefer dogs
but
as I am away from home so much I do not have one at the moment.
I
like all girls, but have a bit of a preference for long blonde hair
I
like to watch comedy programmes when I have the time, on television
and
my favourite sport, again when I have time, is playing Badminton.
I
usually live at home when I am not working and staying in hotels.
I
would say my favourite football team id Leeds United.
Favourite
after shave - well, I really like "Au Savage" best of all.
The
height of my platform shoes never go above 3 inches and the
embarrassing
moment that some of you have asked about, all I can say
is
that I seem to have had several!!!!
If
I were not in a Pop-Group I think I would have been a Racing Driver
that
really appeals to me.
I
have been with Gary Glitter since the beginning, my religion is
C/E
and I can swim. I think that has answered them all for now.
Tony
has just sat on my glasses on the way here and so I must go
and
get some more now - every good wish to you all for the
New
Year.
Harvey Ellison"
You will know now that John Rossall has left the Band to start off on his own. He has a single i the near future which should be well publicised so watch out for it. We wish him all the best, I know from the letters which have been sent in. John will write a letter in the next newsletter.
P.T.O.
The original photos with
the line-up of six in the Band have now all gone.
We have now some fabulous
new ones still in glossy black and white as before and they should be ready
for sale in about ten days. So those who had already sent postal
orders in for the old ones will be getting theirs in about two weeks time.
I am sorry for the delay but they are well worth waiting for.
No. 1 The Glitter Band in Close-Up
size 8"x10"
No. 2 The Glitter Band, full length
shot "
Send a s.a.e. large enough to fit the photos and a Postal Order made out to The Glitter Band Official Fan Club. About two weeks delivery.
SCARVES
At last I have some scarves for sale and some of you will have seen the ones recently on Top of The Pops. They are made of silky material with Glitter Band written on and a picture of the Band and cost 80p each. Send a large s.a.e. and a Postal Order made out as for the photos. About two weeks delivery.
T. SHIRTS
I have at last found a manufacturer who can do these at a reasonable price but they will not be ready for some weeks yet so I will give all the details next time. I just thought I would let you know that I am working at it!
Well, I think I have covered everything. Of course I am always very pleased to hear from you and to have your suggestions about the Fan Club. I do not have the final say in how things are run but I always discuss your ideas and some of them are very good indeed. I would like to say one thing though, that as the Fan Club Memberships grows so quickly, it may take two or eve three weeks for me to write back nowadays - but you know that I will write eventually, so do not give up hope! Do not forget to put your membership number if you can and also your address - some of you forget and I just do not know who has written in to me, so I cannot write back.
Anyway, as always, all the best to you and above all-Keep Glittering!
Lyn Stevens
P.S. My apologies for page Two - but the copying machine was deciding not to work too well, so I did them again on the other side.
