G BAND OFFICIAL FAN CLUB,
PO BOX 315,
Newsletter
LONDON, E.18. 2RL
February, March, April 1977
Dear G Band Fans,
First of all I must apologize for the delay in sending out your newsletter this time. There has been a postal strike in some areas of London, including the area that the Fan Club office is run from and so I have not been getting any mail coming in for some weeks, and also there was no point in getting all the newsletters out of the office just for them to hang around in the sorting office somewhere. The other thing which has not helped is the fact that the Management have moved their offices in central London to another address in the same district and things have been pretty hectic there, as you can imagine if you have ever had to move house at all. Things go missing and no one can concentrate on the work until the move is well over. Anyway, here we are at last.
SINGLE
You may have heard the latest single which was released on February 11th and is called "LOOK WHAT YOU'VE BEEN MISSING" and is on the CBS Label. I like it and think it should do well and I am sure you will too!
COMPETITION WINNERS
We had some great entries for the last competition in which you had to send in a pic of the Band with appropriate comments on what you think they would be thinking judging from the expression on their faces. Some of them were really funny and it was very difficult sorting them all out but in the end we managed to pick out the following:-
1st
Sue Ridges, London
Richard Cole, Romford
2nd
Susan Jones, London
Mark Wilson, Preston
3rd
Isobel Heald, Lancs.
Peter Riley, Suffolk
4th
Jenny Palmer, New Zealand Steve Morris, Prestwich
As I have not heard from all the competition winners saying they received their prizes O.K. I am presuming that they did get their prizes O.K. Anyway, my congrats to you and my thanks to all of you who entered and did not win, as there were some really good ones.
TOUR DATES
There is to be a tour around April/May but as usual, I have no details this far in advance. Mike Mingard is at present on tour with Gary Glitter who is making a great come-back, and I will not be able to get any info from Mike for some weeks. As before, if interested, send in a self - addresses, stamped envelope to me, marked "INFO" and I will send some on as and when I get it.
NEW ZEALAND TOUR
The lads asked me to tell you that they had a really great time during their recent visit to New Zealand. They also visited Japan and Australia making Television and Radio appearances in those two countries. At this present time they are having a well - earned rest apart from one or two Television appearances here. As these are never arranged far in advance, I am sorry to say that I do not have any dates etc. for these - you will just have to keep your eyes "peeled" like me!
The lads also say thanks for the may cards you sent for Christmas and their various birthdays, also for the lovely presents - it really makes their day to know that you think of them.
Next time, in the May newsletter, we hope to have a president of the Fan Club and I have one or two ideas as to who this should be... Anyway, I am going to sort this out in the next few weeks and If I tell you that I hope it will be one-fifth of a certain Band, you will have a good idea although which one-fifth has not been decided yet!
PHOTOS
You will see from the Special Offers list that at last I have been able to sort out some individual pics of the Band. As usual, I am jumping the gun a bit as I wanted to pass on the news, but what with the postal strike and so on, I do not know when I will get them. Once I get and idea going, I like it to be ready quickly, but manufacturers have other idea as you know - anyway, the info. is all on the list and if you wish to order now and probably wait a few weeks you are welcome.
Bye for now,
Lyn Stevens
