JULY 1974

Hello!

    Well, at long last, after a great many delays, I am very pleased
to be writing to you - The Glitter Band's first newsletter.  I really
must apologize to all those patient fans who wrote in ages ago,             asking for information on the Fan Club; when it was going to start and     so on.  Those of you who are already members of the Gary Glitter     Official Fan Club will notice that my address is similar - but not the same and so when writing in to me, remember to put the new address.

    I expect you have all heard "Angel Face" by now, the band's first solo single.  It's great isn't it?  Their first solo L.P. "Hey!" is due for release in August which will be good news for you all.  So watch out for it as it too will be another GREAT.  The next single is called "Just For You" and the release date for that is 26th July.

    Before I go any further, I must say a BIG THANKYOU from the band, to all those who have written in to them either individually or as a group.  What a mountain of mail - the boys really appreciate your keen interest in them even though it is not possible for them to write back personally these days.  They are very sorry about this as they like to hear from you but I know you will understand.

    Also Tony Leonard had some lovely cards to congratulate him on his recent marriage on 1st June last and he and his new wife Barbara send their special thanks.

    Some of you mentioned that you were worried about Gerry Shephard being ill when they visited Newcastle but I am happy to tell you that it was nothing serious and he is now fit and well again.  Many thanks for all the "get well" wishes that were sent to Gerry.

    Gary and the Band have now started their Australian tour and so I will not be in touch with them for some weeks but I know your good wishes (and mine) go with them for a good tour and we look forward to their return.  When the Band return they will be rehearsing for their next British tour which is scheduled for the end of August for about one month.  I haven't as yet and definite dates and venues but if you send me a stamped, addresses envelope, as soon as I know the dates I will let you know.  Otherwise, you can always find the dates in the musical papers about mid-August.

    Quite a few people have written in expressing a wish to be first member.  Well, as you will realize, it is impossible for so many to be the first an so fifty names were put into a hat (at random) and the first five to be drawn out were the first five members.  So congratulations to:

    and "bad luck" to the others whose names did not come out!
